ADFIP was established on June 25, 1986 with 8 original charter signatories. ADFIP to date has 18 members in 17 countries in which 15 are Ordinary members and 3 Special Members.
Membership, in general, is open to financial institutions engaged in the financing of development, whether industrial or other productive enterprise, as their exclusive or main activity.
ADFIP has the following types of membership:
• Ordinary: Institutions in the Pacific engaged in the financing of development
• Special:
1. Regional or sub regional development financing institutions in the Pacific
2. international Organizations, with which the Association may decide to establish and maintain a relationship; and
3. Other institutions actively participating in the development of the Pacific
• Associate:
National institutions with limited national operations (provincial or statewide) on the recommendation of a member institution.
